The McHenry County Sheriff's Department still has not released the identity of the woman whose body was found on November 6 at 518 N. Country Club Dr., in McHenry County near McHenry (City).
Why not?
Let's see; November 6 to December 9. More than a month.
The body was found in a bag in a room in the vacant house. With all due respect to the dead woman, I'll go out on a limb and say this is not a case of suicide. And it wasn't a "natural death". So what does that leave, for possibilities? Accidental death? Homicide? Or that catch-all, Unknown.
Have the Coroner and the Sheriff's Department identified her? Shall I just go ahead and publish her name here? Would that be the prompting that the people running two of the most important elected offices in McHenry County need?
What could a possible reason be for withholding the name?
Does the public have any reason for concern? It seems like the Sheriff's Department has its sights set on William J. Ross, currently (still) residing in the Clark County, Nev. Correctional Facility. Ross is charged in McHenry County (Ill.) with concealing a homicidal death, which is a Class 3 Felony. Case No. 13CF001037.
McHenry County Assistant State's Attorney Michael Combs made it sound like a simple deal to extradite Ross from Nevada. In a Northwest Herald article on November 12, he was quoted as saying, "The only issue is proving that he is the same William Ross that's wanted out of Illinois."
If it were that easy, Ross would be here already.
November 12th was the last story in the Northwest Herald. Don't they have a follow-up file?
