Whose "ride" is parked in the 501 spot at the McHenry County Sheriff's Department?
A sign in the east reserved parking lot clearly identifies the parking spot for the County Sheriff. I think that's still Keith ("Seldom Seen") Nygren.
But there is a mysterious black Mercedes E350 four-door sedan parked in that spot. Did Nygren turn in his b-i-g white Chevrolet Tahoe for fancier wheels?
The 501 spot is Nygren's. That's the spot for the Sheriff. Who would dare park there? What if Nygren rolled in and couldn't get in "his" spot? Some know, though, he likes to park inside the sally port, where his car is out-of-sight and where it's much harder to keep tabs on whether McHenry County really has a sheriff hard at work and earning his $145,000/year pay.
Rumor has it that this Mercedes was confiscated in a drug deal. If so, aren't there specific rules for the use of confiscated or seized vehicles?
Don't they have to be used for stimulate arrests in more drug crimes? If it is now an "undercover law enforcement vehicle", what is it doing in the MCSD parking lot, especially parked right up front in the sheriff's reserved parking spot?
And, if it is an "undercover law enforcement vehicle", under the County Vehicle Policy it can only be driven by a law-enforcement officer.
Or maybe it's really the personally-owned car of an employee. If that's the case, what is it doing in the sheriff's 501 spot?
Who investigates waste or mis-use in the Sheriff's Department? The Auditor? The Law & Justice Committee of the County Board? Anybody? Nobody?

FBK (aka Fat Boi Keith) needed a bigger ride to house his girth... so thats probably what necessitaed the Benz. TMB (The Massive Boi) has his rust-bucket station wagon with the front bench seat removed in order for my abdominal prtuberence to fit behind the steering wheel.
Perhaps I should switch to Light beer? DOH!
The Benz is owned by Don Leist, EEOC officer for the Sheriff's Department. Contrary to popular rumor, this car is in fact owned by Don and is not a drug forfieture.
Thanks for clarifying the ownership of the black Benz. Now the next question:
Why does he claim the privilege of parking in the Sheriff's own spot? There are many employees with seniority and more essential duties.
Why don't Nygren and Zinke tell him to park where all the other employees do? Obviously, they allow it. Maybe civilian employees shouldn't even park in Reserves spaces; leave those for on-duty deputies.
Why do you care who parks where in a parkng lot?
Imagine how many deputies and other employees DO care but cannot say so.
Well, well, so now that you're shown that you know very little about who's who and what's what at the sheriffs office, you move along to point out that employees just can't pick what spot they park in. That's so unfair. You know they do the same thing in private business, the boss gets to decide (if he or she chooses) where you will park - even IF you will park on company property. I know that flies in the face of Gus's Law but pity the fool that worked for you as a sheriff who decided that she didn't want to sit in a crowded squad room to do reports but instead wanted to use THE sheriff's office. I'm sure you'd hot foot it right out of the office and go hide in a broom closet so she could use your desk and computer. Right!
You need a reality check, Gus. Employees are employees and bosses are bosses. They, the bosses, make the rules and the employees follow them.
People have been pointing out for months that Leist's undercover car is his own, but you refuse to acknowledge it. Why are you agreeing now? Did it finally sink in or did you forget your stance on this issue?
Will it change yet again? The only constant here is you keep making a fool of yourself.
