People in need forum - Jan. 29

The 2011 People In Need Forum will be held on January 29 at MCC, from 8AM until 12:30PM. This is an opportunity for volunteers and helpers to learn what resources are available to those in need.

It is set up more like an Expo or training, rather than as a venue for those who actually have a personal need themselves. If you yourself are primarily in need, rather than being someone primarily interested in helping others (which doesn't mean that you might not be in need yourself), then please contact one of the organizations that can provide you with the assistance you need and want.

This annual opportunity for volunteers and staff from human service, civic, and faith-based organizations started in 2003. The Forum provides an opportunity to learn about community resources available for those in need.

Workshops will provide practical information to help resolve care-receiver issues. Representatives from human service organizations will be in attendance with informational handouts on such timely issues as utility assistance, food stamps, health care, transportation options, homelessness, domestic violence, legal matters, and loss of job. All participants will receive the updated 2010 People in Need Community Resource Directory.

People in Need Forum with resources to help your neighbor will be presented on January 29, 2011 at McHenry County College from 8 am to 12:30.
