New Arizona law - thoughts?

I didn't see the Lou Dobbs interview on CBS, but an email this morning attempted to summarize it.

The new Arizona law is believed to be constitutional. It was co-authored by constitutional scholar Kris Kobach and mirrors the existing federal law that is not being enforced. Kobach is a University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law professor, a Yale Law School graduate, and was counsel to former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.

The marches in the street were apparently referred to as merely "political theater" and have no substance, because it is too early for anyone to see what actual effect the law will have (to have anything to protest). The major media have been focusing on the protest marches (as if they were the important news, not the issue) and not reporting on the immigration problem, especially these key facts --

1. 70% of all Arizonans are in favor of this law.
2. Phoenix is the "kidnapping capital of the world."
3. Phoenix has as much crime as Chicago and is a mere fraction of its size.

----------

I can tell you this. After looking at the picture of Leyla Mendoza shouting toward a photographer during a May Day march yesterday in Tucson, Arizona, I felt alarmed and disturbed and in fear of my peace. So, should I have her charged with disorderly conduct? Of course, I couldn't help wondering whether she is a U.S. citizen or in the USA legally, if she is not a citizen.

Is that racial profiling? No, it's looking for illegal aliens.

The media are avoiding the facts and slanting the news. Take, for example, the wording in the Associated Press article accompanying the photo. "Angered by a controversial Arizona immigration law, tens of thousands of protesters ... rallied ... demanding President Obama tackle immigration reform immediately."

What the AP article should have said was "illegal-immigration law." Arizona's law is designed to nab people (from any country) who are in this country illegally. Estimates are that there are 12,000,000 illegal aliens in the U.S.

In McHenry County the estimate is 16,000 illegal aliens. That's a lot, folks!

As I said on my Facebook page, Arizona is doing what it has to do because the Federal Government (ICE) won't do *its* job. Your tax dollars (not) at work.
