You probably have seen the news articles about the Miama (Fla.) police officer who was heading to his off-duty job at a private school in a Miami squad car and running late. So Ofc. Fausto Lopez decided to step it up a little and was hitting 120MPH when a Florida State Trooper attempted to stop him. The traffic stop has gone viral.
Now the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) is defending Lopez and accusing the trooper of unprofessional conduct. http://www.local10.com/news/Miami-FOP-defends-speeding-officer/-/1717324/4045750/-/154j1w8z/-/index.html
Baloney!!!
The trooper did everything right, except for disarming Lopez sooner. She was right to chase him down. She was right to order him out of the car. She was right to handcuff him and haul him in. Did she have the Miami squad car towed? I hope so!
But where is the "professional courtesy"?
Want to read what cops have to say about "professional courtesy"? Yes, there are a few who believe the trooper did the right thng. Then there are those others, who think she never should have stopped him in the first place. http://www.policeone.com/news/4562742-Miami-FOP-defends-cop-driving-120-mph/
All things considered, she showed it! She deserves full recognition for running Lopez down and arresting him, and I plan to say so to the Director of the Florida State Police right now!

The FHP stated that this is not the first time. They had seen this car speeding before but couldn't catch it. What would the FOP say if he crashed and killed people. Much like the ISP trooper down in southern Illinois that kille the young girls. The 'professional courtesy' gets thrown out when officers intentionally vilate the law. This is like driving DUI. HE MADE THE CHOICE. The FHP trooper did the right thing.
He deserves to be fired. Totally unprofessional. If he isn't fired they should take away his squad and put him behind a desk.
120mph? I actually could get my V8 (only 7 cylinders work) rust-bucket going that fast but I wouldn't have good control of it with a cigar in one hand and a 40 ouncer in the other.
If the cop wasn't on an code-3 call, then feed'm to the gators!
The Miami cop was late for his off-duty job at a private school.
You can hear the trooper telling the cop that his car had been reported before.
The Miami cop should be fired and de-certified as cop.
What's scary is he could have been a "bad guy", dressed like a cop and, if the trooper hadn't cuffed him, he could have killed the trooper and driven away.
The trooper acted correctly.
I support the Trooper 110%. See the cars driving past at 70 plus MPH and this idiot pulled to the CENTER sholder not the outside.
He is the type guy I call driving on his badge expecting that professional courtesy. Unprofessional actions do not deserve any pass by the police. Hope Miami hangs him but having spent much time in south Florida, they won't and have a very poor reputation in this regard.
