Special Courts Fund set up by MCCF

On July 12 the McHenry County Mental Health Court held its 5th graduation ceremony, in which six graduates received their Certificates.

Although it wasn't mentioned during the ceremony, I believe that the charges that had brought the men and women to the Court were dismissed

On that night I learned of a Special Courts Fund through the McHenry County Community Foundation (MCCF). Large and small gifts can be made on a tax-deductible basis. Cash gifts are always welcome, and gift cards for gas, groceries and food are welcome.

Uses of the Fund may include furthering education, limited childcare assistance, workforce development, access to health care and medications, maintenance of stable housing, and assistance with ground transportation needs through PACE and taxi services. In some cases gift cards for gasoline, groceries and food may be distributed based on individual needs.

All requests for assistance will be screened by the Special Courts Coordinator to ensure that the proposed use is an appropriate expense to be funded.

For more information, contact Scott Block, 22nd Judicial Circuit Special Courts Coordinator at 815.334.4913 or John Small, MCCF Interim President/CEO, at 815.338.4483.
