Should you have the right to defend your own property? Not just your life, but also your property?
The Castle Doctrine is becoming better known throughout the U.S., but in Texas the "castle" may be wherever you are. That's certainly not true in Illinois, where you'd better be careful about defending yourself - anywhere.
Remember the man outside Marengo a few years ago whose truck was being broken into? As I recall, he nailed (shot) one of the perps and got arrested for it. I don't recall his name, and I also don't ever recall reading much about it in the newspapers after he was charged. Were the charges dropped? Does anyone remember his name?
Wisconsin's governor is about to sign the new concealed carry law, which will give Wisconsin folks the right to carry in the open or under a coat or shirt. There will be "rules", of course, and it is important to know them.
Should criminals have to worry about whether their victims are armed? Sounds reasonable to me...

Google - Jerry Sweat
Thanks, M.U.G.
No wonder nothing much was in the news for very long about that case.
Sweat was charged on 12/3/2006. Charges were nolle prossed on 3/19/2007.
That must be a record in McHenry County!
