How to grow a cell phone tower...

Heard a rumor over the week-end that the Woodstock Fire Rescue District is considering allowing a cell phone tower to be built on its lot on Judd Street behind the fire station. Anyone know anything about that?

Who wants a 100' tower near the Woodstock Historic Square and right behind the Emerson Loft condominiums? The developer sank a lot of money into that project, just the economy started down the drain. Would a prospective buyer of a $170,-300,000 condo want to sit on his patio and stare up at a 100' tower? I d-o-n'-t t-h-i-n-k s-o...

Would the Woodstock City Council have to approve erection of such a tower? Is the City already exploring that issue behind the scenes, even though I don't think it has ever come up publicly at a City Council meeting?

There was apparently a small notice in a local paper (a Public Notice?) that alerted at least one reader to plans.

Read the article in today's Daily Herald about the Hoffman Estates approval of a T-Mobile tower, after T-Mobile threatened to sue, if Hoffman Estates denied approval. Hoffman Estates was worried about spending $50,000 to defend its decision in Federal Court. www.dailyherald.com/article/20110711/news/707119798/

Has a decision ever been made in Woodstock after an attorney intimated the possibility of a lawsuit by his client? Ahhh, of course.... the situation that got so much attention (from some) a couple of years ago. You remember the one ...
