Where, oh where, does Nygren live?

My phone has been ringing off the hook today, and my e-mailbox is almost full, with questions about where does Sheriff Keith Nygren live? As in, does he still live in McHenry County?

Keith and Margarete Nygren have claimed 10213 Meadow Lane, Hebron, Illinois, as their McHenry County address. A local permanent residence is essential to Nygren's eligibility to hold the Office of Sheriff of McHenry County AND to file for and run for re-election in the February 2010 Primary Election and November 2010 General Election.

Nygren won the election with 58.46% of the vote. On December 1, 2010, he was sworn (back) in as Sheriff.

On December 3, 2010, Nygren sold the Hebron house to Bryan Krause. Krause, as many know, is the supervisor for the McHenry County Sheriff's Department Garage (vehicle servicing unit) and was a popular chauffeur for Nygren during the last campaign's parade season.

On December 27, 2010, Nygren was released from his mortgage on that property.

How did this become public? Thanks to the Northwest Herald, where the real estate transaction showed up (conveniently?) under "Woodstock" on Page 11 of the Northwest Properties section. Why Woodstock? Why not Hebron, where the property is located? How did the listing read?

"$250,000, 10213 Meadow Ln, Woodstock 60098, (PIN) 03-08-453-016, Keith R. Nygren To Bryan E. Krause &, December 3"

So where does Keith Nygren live now? In order to hold the Office of Sheriff, he must reside in McHenry County.

Mrs. Nygren is a Florida resident, registered to vote there and reportedly holding a Florida driver's license. That way, Keith and she can claim a homestead exemption on their house in Cape Coral, which they did through 2009. But apparently they gave up the homestead exemption in 2010; was that to try to clear up murky waters about their real domicile? You can't be a resident of Florida and the sheriff of McHenry County, Ill.

One of the factors that the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office considered in determining that Nygren was eligible to run for and hold the office of sheriff was Nygren's intention to remain a McHenry County resident. Was it his intention? How was that determined? Did they ask him if he had plans to sell his house in Hebron?

Notice how the Northwest Herald failed to report on Page 1 that Nygren sold his house 1 1/2 months ago? I wonder if the editor of the Northwest Properties section is updating his resume yet...

Got to feed the boy all the OT to make his big down payment. That house isn't worth $250,000.

I tell you what, he got a mighty good price for that home. Not that Zillow or any other valuation site should be treated as gospel, but they estimate the house was sold for >80k more than what they calculated it was worth according to their algorithms.

Geez. I'd like to work out that sort of deal selling my house.

I know, I know... technically a house is "worth" whatever a person pays for it, but wow... 250k for a house in Hebron in this market? Especially when that same house sold for 263k during the market peak in 2006? That's not in line with the depreciation I've seen, that's for sure.

Maybe the garage supervisor wanted to keep his $100K per year job with a take home vehicle. An inflated price is a good way to cover a kick back to the boss.Has the walrus gone south for the winter.

OMG! What startling revelation will next be forthcoming? Feds think all the crap being spouted is just that, crap? Now we have that dastardly Nygren sellins his house? What next? Oh yeah, watch for photos by Gus of Nygren actually putting gas in his wife's personal car at a gas station in Walworth, WI. Certain proof that Nygren has moved to WI permanently, right? Ahahahahahahahaha! Yeah, right!

Well Steve, WHERE does he "live" now? Hmmmmm?

Did he rent a small, back bedroom in Chemung for $250/month?

I don't know, nor do I really care so long as he lives in McHenry County (Don't start on that BS, Gus). I will agree that he sold his house but has he moved? Ownership to a home can be transferred without a change in occupancy. Has anyone any information that says Nygren has actually moved? Anyone? Once again everybody wants to jump to the conclusion that best sharpens their axe. Speculation is fun, but in the end, it's meaningless. The Housing Authority rents quite a number of apartments in order to provide Section 8 housing. Gus lives in an apartment. That must mean he's on Section 8 assistance. That's just about how tight most of the arguments here are. They just get better and better when they get repeated over and over. The echoes seem to provide - to some simpletons anyway - a factual basis where none exists.

But Seriously said...

It does seem a bit hypocritical for someone who ran for sheriff as a renter to imply someone who now chooses to rent is somehow less capable of being sheriff.

Hey, instead of always complaining, why dont you get busy taking down YOUR campaign signs that i see up throughout the county. Complain about others being up but i guess you are exempt from your own complaints.

Hey, Steve. A lot of apartments (for example, in New York City) rent for $8,-10,000/month. Gus lives in an apartment. Therefore, Gus must pay $8,-10,000/month rent. Right?
