Recently the Woodstock Liquor Commission pronounced that the end of a day is at 12:00 A.M., the midnight following a particular day. But is it?
In a survey of readers The Woodstock Advocate learned that 29 of the 30 readers who responded voted that a day begins at 12:00AM, and one reader voted that the day ends at 12:00AM.
In an article I threw out consideration for what A.M. and P.M. really mean.
A.M. ante meridian
P.M. post meridian
Meridian? The hour of noon; mid-day. That's 12:00PM; noon-time - the middle of the day. So, if a time is before (ante-) noon, then it's denoted as A.M. And times after (post-) noon are P.M.
So, when would 12:00A.M. be? This would be 12 hours before noon, or midnight at the beginning of the day.
Thanks, y'all.
