Might need a gun one day?

Watch this video of testimony by Dr. Suzanna Hupp in 2003, when she addressed legislators about the value of guns in defending yourself. In a remark directed at "assault" weapons, she reminded them that a man in L.A. defended his property and his life from his rooftop with such a weapon.

I've written here previously about her. Her parents were killed in a restaurant in Texas by a madman who drove his truck through the plate glass window and then began shooting as many people as he could, killing over 20, including both her parents.

Every legislator in Illinois should be required to watch this video and then be asked to vote and approve concealed carry in Illinois. And if he or she won't, make a public statement as to exactly why not.

If you need a gun, it won't do you any good locked in a gun box or in the trunk of your car or in a gun safe. If you need it, you'll want it on your hip, loaded with one in the chamber, if it's a semi-automatic pistol. In other words, ready to use. There may not be time to load it; there may not be time to slide the action to chamber a round. Or you may have just one hand free, as you fend off some criminal.

Let each of us that we will never need it. And also let us hope that, if we need it, we have it where we can get at it.

Please call, write or email your legislator today. Ask him (her) where he stands on right-to-carry. If he's against it, let's replace him at the next election!
