An excellent commentary appears today on www.mchenrycountyadvocate.com I commend it to your reading. The title is GUTS ... YES ... GUTS
What would happen today - in the USA, in Illinois, right here in Woodstock - if we were invaded? How many of us would say, "No way!" and step forward without hesitation to defend our families, our homes, ourselves?
And with what means would we defend ourselves? Shovels? Pitchforks? Rocks? Guns and ammo?
This thought causes me to wonder just how many in Woodstock are ready to bear arms and stand firm. Our town's little police force would quickly be overwhelmed. In fact, they would likely be the first target of any invaders. Then, as reinforcements showed up, to what extent would we be defended by the McHenry County Sheriff's Police, the Illinois State Police, the MCCD Police, and the police of neighboring towns.
But would they be busy themselves, defending their own communities, utilities, resources?
Are we - you and I - ready to defend our families? Our homes and property? Our neighbors?
And, after the dust of the invasion settled, if it had been successful, how many of us would become the "insurgents"? What would the world be saying about us? Would we be condemned for fighting to restore our rights to our freedom? to our property?
Suppose some foreign power decided to "liberate" us from Governor Blagojevich? From Mayor Daley's nearby rule? From (heaven forbid) our own City Council. Well, maybe not Woodstock's City Council, but ...
Does the recent Heller decision of the United States Supreme Court begin to take on new meaning for you?
In this country we have the Constitutional right to own guns. People like Richard Daley, who would limit or completely take away that right, must be faced down. Politicians who tell us we cannot own or possess weapons must be replaced.
As you watch the flag of the United States of America fly proudly and high in today's breezes, remember what put it there and what keeps it there.

Fortunately Patriots with their owns firearms were willing to shed their blood for the last 232 years. Either individuals, groups, militias, or entire orgainized armies ...as a entire entity we are invincible. A country where its citizens can't protect themselves mush less assist their country should the event ever happen is lost to its own ineptitude and stupidity. Never think that it will never or can't happen here. Other countries have thought that way as our Founding Fathers understood and that is why we have the Second Amendment. Agression can take place from the outside in but also from the inside out and that is why the Founding Fathers of this country wanted it citizens armed. They knew all to well not to always trust in the benevelent goodness of organized government.
