Thanksgiving Day was not a good day for McHenry County Sheriffs Department Corrections Officer Jeffrey Salerno. See the previous article here. and Case No. 12CM002480.
Nor was yesterday, December 14, a good day - the day when an additional charge was filed against him, this time as Case No. 12CM002641.
The new charge is for violating an order of protection on December 11. The courthouse is closed today, so it's not possible to read the Complaint and learn exactly what he did to attract the attention of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department, which was the arresting agency, on December 11. An Order of Protection has several conditions. Which one(s) did Salerno violate?
Salerno was in custody for about seven hours at the McHenry County Jail, where he has been employed, until he was released on bond yesterday at 8:45AM.
If he gets suspended now, even on paid leave, will that revoke his special permission for access to his duty weapon during employment?
If you happen to search online court records, shorten his first name for the search to "Jeff". If you enter Jeffrey, you won't find the all the search results, because a typo resulted in his first name being spelled as Jeffery.
Naturally, there is no media release on the Sheriff's Department website for this arrest activity. The Department apparently does not want County residents to know when its own employees are bad boys.
Salerno is represented on 12CM002480 by the law firm of Donahue & Walsh. Counsel has not yet filed an Appearance on the second case.
