$25,000 bail for Trotter

A judge this morning socked Sen. Donne Trotter with a (low) bail of $25,000, and his attorney was standing by with the 10% ($2,500) to free him from custody.

Prosecutors revealed that Trotter's handgun was not registered in the City of Chicago, as required. The judge ordered Trotter to surrender any other firearms he had.

Whoa! Wait a minute, your honor... You're depriving Trotter of his ability to work as an armed security guard.

I would not live in the City of Chicago, and that's just one of the reasons.I don't even like Illinois.

OK, I've probably beaten on Sen. Trotter too hard and long enough. My guess is that it is true that he had no idea the gun was in the garment bag. Just like the 65-year-old American Airlines flight attendant recently didn't. Anybody remember her name? Old new; right?

After all, who is going to try to go through security at the airport with a gun and bullets? Do they still make you take off your shoes?

But now there will be lots of digging into whether his "armed security guard" gig was real and above-board. If it is, maybe he just likes wearing a uniform and carrying a gun. But what does he really do for Allpoints?

But somebody tell him to get a real gun that will stop any perp he has to fire at.
