The "Fair Cash Value" of the real estate at 680 West Terra Cotta Avenue in Crystal Lake, current home of Viking Dodge, is $3,429,126, according to the 2008 McHenry County Property Tax bill.
Why is the Crystal Lake Parks District about to pay nearly twice that? Is there more property involved than just Parcel 14-31-251-001?
Does anyone in Crystal Lake care?
How much property tax does Viking Dodge owe tomorrow? $41,701.95. And that's just the First Installment! Another $41,701.95 in due on September 4, 2009.
How many cars and trucks do you have to sell to pay a whopping property bill like that?
Maybe that's why Wayne Beto hasn't gotten his $131 yet.
If the deal goes through, that's $83,400 less property taxes that McHenry County will collect in the future for all the taxing entities with their hands out for their share.
Guess who gets to make up the difference? Hopefully, you are not still under any delusions that expenses will be cut, if property tax income goes down.

You know that ag land gets a big tax break, right?
I'm told there are unused acres out back.
I have not looked, but it would not surprise me to see it tilled.
