Many thanks to the Woodstock Streets Department for quickly filling the two holes between the railroad tracks on North Jefferson Street at Judd Street. After driving through them and around them, last week I emailed Public Works, and a crew promptly filled them with asphalt.

They also apparently placed some asphalt in a depression that repeatedly forms in the street surface at 1086 Lake Avenue in the eastbound lane, in front of City Electric Supply. A depression forms around the manhole cover there. For a couple of years I have suggested putting some pressure on the contractor who earned the millions of $$$ for paving that street and getting them to re-do the job correctly before any warranty on their work runs out. After that the City will get stuck for big repair bills.

That manhole (in front of 1086 Lake Avenue) is not the only problem between Route 47 and Wal-Mart. The roadway is deteriorating around a number of the manholes. If the City of Woodstock doesn't require the contractor to make permanent repairs, the taxpayers will be coughing up the money, and it won't be too long in the future. It would be better for the City Fathers to get after the contractor now.
