City Council – Litigation Expected?

At 7:48PM the Woodstock City Council headed into Executive Session, excusing all visitors from the Council chambers. Executive Session is where they get to talk about what they don’t want the public to know about (yet). The “yet” will probably be tomorrow morning.

The Agenda for tonight’s meeting included

G. EXECUTIVE SESSION:
(Open Meetings Act: 120/2 (c)(11)
Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular public
body has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or
when the public body finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the
basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the minutes of the closed
meeting.

Let’s see… Woodstock experienced major flooding and sewer back-ups a month ago. The City has not contacted all property owners to ascertain the full extent of damage incurred by residents. No estimate has been publicized for the total losses of residents.

What possible litigation could be “probable or imminent”? Anyone?

Stay tuned…

Maybe they were discussing what to do with the sargeant who couldn't get off the pain pills?

Could be, but the Agenda referred to a Section of the Open Meetings Act that deals with Litigation.

Maybe it had to do with the city being fined hundreds of thousands of dollars by the E.P.A.

Maybe they were discussing the possable repricussions of the public finding out about the kickbacks the city gets from all these new housing developments that are popping up all over the place.

Maybe they were discussing the new high school principal who is getting paid for a scholl that is not yet open and how they can cash in on it.

Maybe they were discussing how they can buy more overpriced artwork like that park bench in front of city hall, instead of repairing or even installing new sidewalks so that those of us who are disabled can get around the city.

Maybe they were discussing how they could all buy themselves new cars at taxpayers expense.

Maybe they were discussing the possibilities of having a spelling bee and letting you be one of the judges. Stupid Fuck.
