Was it Will Rogers or Mark Twain who said, "It's a good thing we are not getting as much government as we are paying for." Well, you're paying for this, folks.
Cal Skinner will probably get to the P's before the next monthly meeting of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department Merit Commission. It meets on April 11th (if it meets), which is two days before the next court date of Sgt. Greg Pyle, who apparently remains on paid administrative leave after being charged in January with ten counts of predatory criminal sexual assault on a child under 13. Need we be reminded that all persons charged are considered innocent until proven (or declared) guilty? Are additional charges coming for whatever triggered his January arrest?
What possible reason could Sheriff Keith Nygren have for continuing Pyle's pay? When Cal gets to the P's on his list, we'll know how close to $9,000/month Pyle's pay is.
For the April Merit Commission meeting (if the Commission meets), the actual agenda for that meeting should show the specific exemption being claimed for any Executive Session on the agenda. Using Executive Session as a placeholder might be okay, in general, but it won't fly if the Merit Commission actually goes into Executive Session. Any agenda for a meeting must be published 48 hours ahead, so just bringing a revised agenda to the meeting will likely constitute a violation of the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
Will the Chairman blow off the April meeting, too? She no longer works down the street at Woodstock City Hall. Now she has to trot back to 667 Ware Road from Elgin. Presumably, that will be on her personal time and not paid for by ECC. Will she charge mileage to/from the meeting? That's 27 miles each way. Will she (and the other commissioners) charge $0.14/mile (charity) or $0.555/mile (business)?

I have avoided commenting on you blog for many months, but recently you must have apparently been off your meds and your idiocy has exceeded the ridiculous. You make the late Andy Rooney look like Pollyanna.
Have you compared the pay of McHenry Co Sheriff Deputies or McHenry County employees to Lake Co. or Kane County? Why don't you examine the pay scale for the Illinois State Police or other state agencies? You’ll find State Conservation Police officers without any rank at the make as much as a McHenry CO Lieutenant but it's only McHenry CO that is in your cross hairs.
I noticed the other day some moron in the NWH comments section made the statement that the highway workers at the county highway dept should be paid minimum wage since they are unskilled.
Then you make stupid comments about Pyle's pay status. I don’t like it either but it’s a fact of law, not opinion. Recently someone on Cal’s blog posted explanations and legal precedents explaining WHY they remain in paid status. Maybe go back and read them and you’d be less likely to show your stupidity spouting off in front of people that understand employee law. I doubt you'll look as it doesn’t fit within your narrow paradigm of perverted logic.

The Sheriff could have and should have fired Pyle by now. An internal is in progress and "Internal Affairs" is dragging their feet. Nygren's bag man can't just be tossed to the wind. No matter how disgusting he is. He knows entirely too much. Nygren has fired other personnel faster than this so don't listen to the crap about the law and unions and other garbage. Pyle's not Union and Nygren doesn't give 2 cents about the law or courts. A perfect example of how Nygren doesn't care about the law just walked through his doors 2 weeks ago. How is Seipler doing Gus? Heard from him lately? Wait don't answer that. He'll get fired again. It's more offensive to the Sheriff for a deputy to talk to Gus than it is to rape children.
This is not about Unions and the fact that Pyle was not in the union has nothing to do with it. Seipler was not charged with a criminal act, if so he would not have been fired as the same legal precedents would have been in place. I remember reading the post mentioned above on Cal's blog but can't find it. If I find it I'll see if Gus can reference it here, but as I recall it had something to do with the prosecution proving that no evidence in a civil matter was used in a criminal trial. I don't think this is a choice they want to make to keep him on the payroll, it is a catch 22. I know in almost every case I've heard on where a cop is arrested, they are kept on the payroll unless they can prove a violation without any statements etc. Case in point a cco8uiple that were arrested for domestic violence and stayed o paid status until ther plead or were found guilty. I personally think he should be UNPAID but yield to better legal minds than me.

I think "Sickofthenonsense" hit the nail on the head with "He (Pyle) knows entirely too much."
Does Pyle know anything that a monthly paycheck keeps behind sealed lips? What could he know?
