How about a Orson Welles' stamp?

Local residents are putting together an event to recognize the memory of Orson Welles, and a suggestion has been put forth for a Welles' stamp to be issued by the Postal Service. Do you know of Welles' residency in Woodstock and his relationship with the Woodstock Opera House? From an email to the interested group, one member suggests this. You can help by sending your letter now.

"Please pull out an envelope, and mail a letter petitioning the Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp honoring Orson Welles's 100th birthday in 2015.  Such letters must be received 3 years before the stamp is issued.

"With the approach of the Orson Welles Centenary in 2015, nowhere does the anniversary of his birth seem as special as Woodstock, Illinois, where the young Welles spent his formative years at the Todd School for Boys.  A citizens’ group, Woodstock Celebrates, is planning events in May 2014, marking the 80th anniversary of the Todd Theatre Festival during which Welles made his directorial debut, and in May 2015 marking the 100th anniversary of Welles’ birth.

"To draw further attention to this milestone, Woodstock Celebrates and WellesNet are petitioning the U.S. Postal Service to issue a stamp in 2015 honoring Orson Welles's centenary.  We believe Woodstock is the proper locale for the first day issuance.  Woodstock was central to the creative life of Welles, who would later achieve unparalleled success on stage, radio, film and television.
