The Woodstock Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) and the Woodstock City Council met tonight for two hours in a Special Meeting. The purpose was to discuss the revised design review guidelines for the Historic District that the HPC has been working on since February 2010.
Six dedicated, non-elected residents of Woodstock serve on the HPC. They are Allen Stebbins (Chair), Yvonne Gilbert, Craig Hallenstein, Jodie Kurtz-Osborne, Rodney Paglialong and Erika Wilson. Next time you see them around town, be sure to give them a pat on the back, a hug and a big Thank You.
Most of the City Council was present: Mayor Sager and Councilpersons RB Thompson, Maureen Larson, Mike Turner, Julie Dillon and Mark Saladin (Dick Ahrens was absent). City Manager Tim Clifton and City Planner Nancy Baker were also present.
Thanks to all for the extra hours and close attention to the proposed revised guidelines. The HPC and the City Council are looking out not only for the interests of the Historic District, but also for the interests of the property owners. Too bad that many of the property owners were not present tonight to hear the discussion.
The proposed revisions can be read at City Hall and at the Woodstock Public Library. Once approved by the City Council, they will be posted in .pdf format on the City's website.
