Trash Bags on Roof

At least one Woodstock resident has figured out how to save money on the disposal of trash - by not disposing of it.

At this rental property on the corner of Lake Avenue and Madison St./South St., one of the residents merely opens the door on the second floor and throws his trash bags onto the roof.

The City Code prohibits the accumulation of trash like this on property. Could it possibly be a "technicality" that the trash is on the roof and not piled alongside the back or side of the house, as has happened on other properties in Woodstock?

I rather suspect that our efficient and polite Code Enforcement Officer will be in contact with the resident and will "encourage" him to come into compliance with the City Code.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not drive around Woodstock looking for Code violations. However, I do notice them. When you see property falling into disrepair or see trash, debris, old appliances, etc., accumulating on a property, send an email to CodeEnforcement@woodstockil.gov

If you would like a response about action being taken on your report, be sure to ask. City policy is to inform a resident of such action. Your name will not be released by the Code Enforcement officer.

It wasn't always this way. In the not-too-distant past, the City was allowed by the City Attorney to release the name of a person who requested the City to enforce its "nuisance" ordinances. This changed when a second opinion was obtained from the office of the contracted City Attorney, and your name now will be held in confidence.

my ass you don't drive around looking for things to bitch about. if you don't already know this, i follow your creepy ass around town looking to see what you are up to. after picking up your grandson from the high school you take a route that goes way out of your way just to get to the house on wheeler st. then a trip to the bank? that should only take a couple of minutes to get there. yea, you do notice them because you are looking for them. i see a piece of debris wandering around woodstock, maybe we should throw you in the trash.

also, you dont just notice these things and happen to have a camera in your car ready to prove your case. more thought goes into it than just stumbling upon everything.

That garbage ain't botherin' nobody. Heck, it reminds us of our ol hometown in the trailer park. We would just toss our ol' trash out the trailer door many times hittin our toothless cat Henry in the face. Aw, he alright though. Our freinds Daryl and his other brother Daryl would come on by and we'd be up all day drinkin' Old Style. Yep, those were the good ol' days.

That Code Enforcement dude is going to be muy busy ... I've had a few run-ins with him and almost got into a fight with the SOB ... it was a good thing I backed off though, or I woulda been meat ... he's some righteous piece of work and has got some sort of black belt in an oriental martial art and could probably kick my a** back to Elgin. Those roof-top garbage pickers had better watch out or they'll be getting kicked back to Elgin, too! Robby M.

Frank lets be honest, the only reason that you are giving the City of Woodstock Code Enforcement Officer problems is because the City of Woodstock saw your true colors and refused to hire you for that position. We the Woodstock Citizens are greatful that they refused to hire you. Also you should change your name to the "Hitler of Woodstock."
