When a cop gives "the finger"

Photo courtesy of McHenry County Blog
Cal Skinner was at the Crystal Lake 4th of July Parade yesterday and captured a picture of McHenry County Undersheriff Andy Zinke riding along in a Department vehicle (Unit 509), apparently giving "the finger" to spectators along the parade route.

Or was it just for Cal's benefit?

In a photo taken just before Zinke's vehicle reached Cal's position, Zinke's left arm is resting along the window ledge of the door.

In this photo and in one taken after the vehicle passed Cal's position, Zinke's left arm is raised and his middle finger is extended. Go to McHenry County Blog for the second photo of "the finger".

In what is clearly an improper and probably illegal display of a political sticker on the county-owned, taxpayer-supported vehicle, Zinke's vehicle in the parade bears a magnetic sticker on the left door reading, "Andy Zinke Undersheriff".

Quite frankly, there must be a law against display of political signs on police vehicles and any taxpayer-supported vehicle.

Who investigates unauthorized or improper (or illegal) display of political signs on County vehicles? The Sheriff's Department Legal Affairs Officer? The Sheriff's Department Internal Affairs Division? (Oh, wait; we don't have one of those.) The County Auditor? The McHenry County State's Attorney? The County Board? The Illinois State Police? The Illinois Attorney General's Office?

Is there a County anywhere, in Illinois or elsewhere, that displays the name of an UNDERsheriff on its vehicles? Was the magnetic sign on this vehicle only for the parade? Was it then removed when the vehicle returned to patrol or supervisory status? Is it on Unit 509 today? Is it on all MCSD vehicles today?

Nygren has plastered his name on anything that moves. I suggest you get photos and show the people the abuse. Prisoner busses, the swat and evidence vans, jail transport vehicles, snowmobiles, radar trailers, boats parked at the locks and don't forget the MARV. Political billboards and WHO paid for the signage?

He is a paid employee and wants to be sheriff. With that type of Childish behavior,I wouldn't trust him as a crossing guard. YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK! That is sign language which I feel falls under verbal assault. He should be arrested.

I guess it would be asking to much of the NWherald to do their jobs and write a story about this picture...

Actually, the word from the Zinke camp is that Andy was merely signalling "one" more year until the election.
As far as his family member using the "f word" at people, she was actually saying "Get a fulfilling job"
So, there it is, just a misunderstanding; a signal of one more year and words of encouragement to the unemployed....

I'll remember that the next time I get pulled over. "But, officer, I was just letting you know I was going to drive one more block to a safe, lighted area in which to stop. Undersheriff Zinke taught me to signal that way."

Ha-ha... ("May I put my hands down now?")

You Prim guys crack me up...Launch nasty personal attacks at the man's wife and her family and then cry when the response is that you can F>>> off. He looks calm, certainly didn't fly into a rage...looks like he is calmly letting you know what he thinks about the personal attacks on his family. I would be concerned about any man who didn't stand up to the type of attacks the Prim supporters have been throwing at his family.

Curious1-

I don't know Primm. I also wasn't at the parade.

If getting heckled at a parade elicits this type of response, though, I'm not sure the man needs to be in an elected, highly-stressful job. Not sure he should even be Undersheriff, to be honest. Turning the other cheek is often the hardest, but most correct decision to make.

High School kids on athletic fields and courts all over the country are heckled on a regular basis. We shouldn't expect more out of them than we do from elected officials.

What does Andy Zinke's giving the finger to Cal Skinner have to do with Bill Prim?

What does curious1's statement, "You Prim guys crack me up..." have to do with anything here? Absolutely nothing! It's classic "swerve & deflect". Only it's not working.

Thats it. You have made my mind up for me. If this is all you folks in McHenry County have to worry about then by golly, thats where I want to live. My search for a home begins tomorrow.

There was no heckling. The only heckling came from Kim Zinke directed at Prim Parade Walker, Scott Milliman. Cal Skinner taking your picture is not heckling, its annoying at times, but its not heckling.

And what attacks on his family? Are you talking about the porn star? I'm sure she's taken it far worse and a lot deeper. If you question the truth in that check out her videos, I have. A LOT DEEPER!!

If we were launching attacks at his wife would be talking about the knife wielding incident while working as a detective that got her canned, not her porn star sister taking it deep.

Ahhh the pure class of the Prim supporters on display again...If that is the behavior you guys support should you really be crying about getting calmly flipped the bird?

Perhaps Andy shouldn't resign but surely a public apology for his childish behavior is in order.

I'll take my chances campaigning and voting for Bill Prim. Zinke and his family are not worthy or decent enough for the highest public office in the county.
