Today a reader posted this comment: "You're all wrong on different points. I challenge anyone to answer this
simple question: Did the Illinois FOID card act repeal, amend, overturn,
or alter the second amendment to the federal constitution in any way
shape or form? What part of "The right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT
BE INFRINGED" do you not understand!??

Because of its importance, I am re-posting that comment in a new article and inviting comments. I also invited that reader to let me know whether he is an Illinois resident, a firearms' owner and whether he has a valid FOID card.

FOID cards are nothing more than a way to collect money and information on individuals. That's why I tell everyone to get a FOID card. That way they really don't know who actually has a Firearm.
I also believe in the 2nd amendment, which overrules all state laws. State laws are all to confusing, where the 2nd amendment is straight and to the point.
Maverick is right. The only probem is you need a FOID card to buy ammo. T least t a local brick and mortar store locally.
As far as everyone obtaining a card, I know several people who have one but do not possess any guns.
And I watched Judge Prather find a person guilty this afternoon, because there was a shotgun in the house and he had no FOID card.
He got set up, but she didn't care.
My wife just renewed. Sent in a pic that met requirements, but for the photo on her FOID they used her two year old driver lic.
The second amendment or any other amendment or even The Constitution is just a small inconvenience to our lawmakers who care only about power, money and who's in charge. I say this because who is going to put a stop this abuse? We need people in government that care about the country and not themselves.
Remember your representative and officials don't represent you. Yes every once in a while they enacted a useless 'feel good law' so it seems they are hard at work.
Let's see what becomes of the IRS, Bengasi and other scandals that they are hard at work on. Maybe some peon will get the blank and get fired.
The new Illinois concealed carry is a sham, a joke and a useless piece of paper as is the FOID card. As Maverick50 stated correctly 'it's a money maker'.
It will be interesting to see the repeat criminals and gang bangers whip out that FOID card to buy ammo and obtain a $150 concealed carry permit. Jokes on Quinn and the crew as we all know nothing will change except money changing hands from law abiding citizens to the State.
