For several years I have wondered how a traveler or foreign would ever figure out which train to take on the Metra Northwest Line.
Riding back to Woodstock from Palatine today, I saw this sign in Fox River Grove.
What does it mean? With the arrow pointing to the right, does that mean that "from Chicago" is to the right? It's not.
Why doesn't Metra just make it simple and place "To Harvard" on the sign?
Like the picture? The window was dirty and the sun was from the left (in case you were wondering).

It means that trains from Chicago travel in the direction the arrow points. Visitors to McHenry county don't even know Harvard exists.
