Blake Horwitz wins Chicago case

ABC-TV/7 (WLS) is reporting that Chicago attorney Blake Horwitz has won a $700,000 case against the Chicago Police Department. Click here for the story.

Horwitz was the attorney for the plaintiffs in the case.

You probably recognize Horwitz' name. He is Zane Seipler's attorney in Zane's civil rights lawsuit against Sheriff Keith Nygren, the Sheriff's Department and several deputies on the department. The case is in Federal Court in Rockford.

Horwitz is also Zane's attorney in the petition to get a Special Prosecutor appointed to investigate Nygren.

Recently, you have probably read that Nygren lost the fight against Zane in the Illinois Supreme Court, when that court decided not to hear Nygren's appeal. Did Nygren even believe he had a snowball's chance in - - - - in the Supreme Court? Wouldn't you like to know how Nygren's lawyer honestly felt about even filing the appeal there? Was he enthusiastic about it? Did he possibly tell Nygren up front to just forget it and take Seipler back?

What will Nygren's stalling tactics be now?

What action will Seipler take? If I were Zane, I'd file a huge defamation of character lawsuit against Nygren and then offer to withdraw it if he took me back and paid me in full within two weeks. In other words, give Nygren a really short leash. No doubt the County knows exactly how much it already owes Zane. And the County knows how much it is costing it every day not to pay Seipler.

Will Nygren cut his losses now and man up? Serve him a big slice of Humble Pie with a little glass of Skim Milk. Time's up, Keith.
