Seipler garners 32% of Republican vote

Congratulations to Zane Seipler for collecting 32% of the Republican vote in the primary election for Sheriff of McHenry County.

Zane collected 7,145 votes in the Republican primary. This was a very strong showing for a political unknown and self-admitted underdog.

Too little credit was given to Zane when the arbitrator announced his decision that Zane should have only gotten three days off without pay and that he should not have been terminated. He'll get his job back, when the Circuit Court judge rules in his favor. By that time, election day (Nov. 2) will have passed.

The truth has started coming out about operations at the sheriff's department, and the race to November 2 is on. Taxpayers and voters can look forward to more revelations as the months pass.

Zane better not count on that reinstatement to much. The Judge will hear all the facts which will make him shudder and ask why Zane was not charged with official misconduct. You call yourself a Republican? Why then did you weasel out and run as a Greenie?

I could be wrong, but the issue in Circuit Court might only be what the penalty for the infraction is to be, not what the infraction was.

The what and why are over, except that certain people won't let go of that.

The judge will decide to uphold the 3-day suspension without pay and will order the sheriff to put Zane back to work and pay him ALL his back pay.

Why the Green Party? So that I'll be on the November 2 ballot, which I shall be. Simple, eh?

According to the Chicago Tribune, the final count appears to be

Nygren 16,942 68.1%
Seipler 7,924 31.9%

Face it- Zane got smoked. I think his lack of experience, lack of name recognition, getting fired for misconduct was all in his disfavor.
Dirty Keith is an old bum who needs to get on the next stage outta town.
We'll have to count on you or Mr Mahon to win that Tin Star in Nov. Or for those of you who like to "live on the edge": write in "TMB"; I guarantee disorder in the County! DOH!!!

I have to agree with TMB. Zane would have done better with COMPETENT campaign handlers. Trust me, he had some turds in the punchbowl, but those turds could have been polished with relative ease by some who have experience in bare-knuckle political fights.
There is a way to beat Nygren in November.
Let him beat himself.

In an earlier post you claimed that you thought he would get 35% of the vote. Good guess, but he only got 32....yet now you are writing it as if this is a feat. Zane had more signs and many of the voters don't know Zane and just see the signs and vote!
