Community sale in Marengo - Saturday

There will be a community sale in Marengo this Saturday, July 16, from 7:00AM until 3:00PM, in the parking lot behind Brandt's Pharmacy. For those of you not from Marengo, Brandt's is at 101 N. State St. (Route 23), a couple of blocks north of U.S. 20.

And you know, if something starts at 7:00AM, you'd better come early. Jail Brakers will be there to raise some dough for its 501(3)(c) application and for insurance. As you may know, Jail Brakers is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving families of persons who are incarcerated.

They have already registered with the Charitable Trust Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General's office, so that they can accept donations. The next step is the application for tax-exempt (501(c)(3)) status with the IRS, so that donations are tax-deductible for the donor. That is a complicated and not inexpensive process.

See you Saturday in Marengo.

Garage Sale - Thurs-Sunday in Crystal Lake

Jail Brakers is conducting a huge garage sale Thursday through Sunday for the benefit of children and families of those who are incarcerated. It is a support group that provides a safe place for children and other family members to express their emotional reaction to the separation from a family member who is in jail or prison.

Jail Brakers conducts group sessions and special projects for the family members. You can help in two ways: take some clean used items to donate and also look around for some great deals. Use the Gus-rule when you buy. "You can pay just as much as you want to!"

Where? 180 Glen Avenue, Crystal Lake (for those of you are who still GPS-less, that's five blocks east of Main Street, and one block south of Route 176).

When:
Thurs., May 19 9:00AM-5:00PM
Fri., May 20 9:00AM-5:00PM
Sat., May 21 9:00AM-5:00PM
Sun., May 22 9:00AM-Noon

Bring cash, please. Lots of it.
