You can always raise it if need be but you usually can't lower it. Unfortunately a few of my colleagues were sleeping during that class. I have ALWAYS treated people with respect and courtesy my entire career much like Officer Simmons does. And it worked. I had very few beefs filed against me and those that were, were unsustained. I didn't do a lot of traffic enforcement as most of my work was done inside project buildings on the south and west sides of Chicago. But when I did, I always tried to reduce the amount of tension in those situations by approaching people in the same manner as Officer Simmons.
